Voodoo


Salanon, a traditional Voodoo healer, seen here at his home in Abomey, Benin. Salanon has contact with ghosts thanks to the powerful fetishes he owns. He claims that he can cure any illness. Most of the people in Benin go to a traditional healer first, and only when he fails to cure them they make a visit to regular doctor.Voodoo is a very complicated religion; often not understood by westerners. Overfishing in Senegal


A man shows fish he managed to catch with his traditional fishnet, St-Louis, Senegal. Many of Senegalese fishermen have problems with supporting their families because of overfishing. St-Louis was the first French settlement in Africa. It is placed on the Island near the river's Senegal mouth. The old part of town is full of colonial architecture and has barely changed since 18th century.
