Transdniester - a narrow strip of land sandwiched between Ukraine and Moldova that broke away from the Soviet Union just before USSR collapsed, officialy it is part of Moldova but after bloody civil war in 1990 it proclaimed independence. Its self proclaimed independence is not recognized by any country in the world. Presently Transdniester is a living museum of life in USSR. It is also well known as a hotbed for international organized crime.
